Privacy
What this site records, what it does not, and how to ask about data.
The Gauge and Grain is a static site served from a content delivery network. It has no account system, no comment form, no shop and no newsletter, so there is nothing to sign up for and no profile to build.
What is recorded
The hosting network keeps the technical logs that any web server keeps: the address a request came from, the time, the page asked for and the browser identification sent with it. Those logs are used to keep the site available and to understand how many people read an entry. They are not used to identify a reader and they are not sold.
Cookies and measurement
The site sets no cookie of its own and runs no advertising script. It does not embed a third party player, a map or a font from another company, so reading an entry does not tell anyone else that you read it.
A message sent to the contact address is read by the person who keeps the ledger and is kept only as long as it takes to answer it. A correction that is used is attributed to the document, not to the reader.
Links to other sites
An entry may link to a railway company, a festival, an association or a public document. Once a link is followed, the other site applies its own rules, which this ledger does not control and does not describe.
Asking about your data
Write to contact@railstoalesbrewfest.com and describe the request. Because the site keeps no account and no profile, the only data that can be found from a request is the mail that was sent and the technical log line that carried it.
