The Gauge and Grain

Field notes on brewfests, the beer poured there and the rail lines that get you to them

Contact this ledger

How to reach The Gauge and Grain, what to send with a correction and what this desk cannot answer.

The ledger reads its mail at contact@railstoalesbrewfest.com. Write in English, and put the entry number in the subject line if your message is about an entry that already exists.

A correction

A correction should carry three things: the address of the entry, the sentence that is wrong, and the source that settles it. A timetable change, a festival that has moved its dates, a station that has lost its service and a style description that has been revised are all useful. Send the document or the page, not a summary of it, and the entry will be corrected with its new checking date.

A source worth reading

If a festival publishes its safety plan, if a heritage railway publishes its special services, or if an association publishes a guide to responsible service, the ledger will read it. Send the link and one sentence on what it settles.

What this desk cannot answer

The ledger cannot confirm that a ticket is genuine, cannot arrange a refund, cannot book a seat, a table or a room, cannot say whether a particular brewery will pour a particular beer this year, and cannot give medical or legal advice. Those questions belong to the festival, the brewery, the railway company or a professional.

Privacy of a message

A message sent to the ledger is read by the person who keeps it. If a correction sent by a reader is used, the entry names the document or the page, not the reader, unless the reader asks to be named.
